One year already!

Yes, it was one year ago today that I had my mastectomy. I am so thankful to God that I am fine and now back in Burkina working at the clinic again. ‘’ God is, and all is well.’’

Today is a great day for me in Burkina Faso, West Africa!

For those that follow this blog: I want you to know that I am back in Africa again! It is great to be back. I feel good and thank God for my health. The flights over were calm and I got my entire 3 pieces of luggage within 40 minutes.   One year ago today I was taking the 3 hour oral exam to be consecrated /ordained with The C&MA. Thanks be to God, I passed! It was a scary experience; yes, scarier than flying in bad weather to and from Africa!  My prayer is that I will finish well here in three years. I will update this again in September on the one year anniversary of my breast cancer surgery.

Time to go back to Burkina!

Yes, soon I will be back in Burkina. This month I had my mammogram. The first one since they found the cancer. It was a scary thing to have done, but I praise the Lord that all was OK and this time and I received the paper from the radiologist saying that all was fine, NO cancer found.  I never saw a paper like that last July because they found cancer.  What a difference a year makes!

Lord willing, the next time I write to you on this blog sight, I will be in my home in Burkina Faso, West Africa. I love my country and loved living here in the USA, but it is time to go back to Africa and get to work at the clinic, to live and work with my dearest friend Jetty, to enjoy her good gourmet cooking again, to be with African friends, and to serve my Lord there with them: yes, it is time to move on and get busy doing what I do in Africa and not just talking about what I do. Thank you Lord for allowing me the privilege of going back to Africa: ‘To God be the glory, great things He has done!’  Peggy Drake

April 25, 2011 Monday after Easter

It is the 25 of April. Jetty is here! Easter was this past weekend and all is well! I am feeling great and do thank God for all His care, love, and protection these months. I will update this blog in July again after I have had my mammogram, see the surgeon, and my Oncologist one last time before I head to Africa.

Friday March 25, 2011

It is a Friday night in March and I am on tour on the West Coast of America. It is time again to write a note on my surgery blog site. How good God is to allow me to be healthy, to love life, to be on tour, and to be His child talking about the work that we do at the clinic in Africa.
All is well as I head into the last two weeks of tour. I cannot wait to get back to Atlanta. Jetty will arrive 4 days after my return. Pray for Jetty, it is hot in Africa and when the temperatures sore so high it is hard to work long hours as she must do. Pray for Burkina as there are riots going on there! Pray that Jetty will be able to fly!
I hope to update this next month from my place in Atlanta!
God bless you!

Time to update

The months seem to go so fast now. Tour is over and I will soon leave on another one this next week. My health is good and for that I thank Him. I have been to the dentist and the eye doctor this last week. I need to go back and the dentist once more and now see a retina specialist as things were not right with my left eye. It may be what they call a muscular pucker. If that is the case I will not have to do anything but learn to live with it.
Vicky, the RN and friend from college came back to visit. We had a dear friend fly in from Japan, Toshiko. Toshiko flew to Atlanta 21 hours after I got back from my last tour. What a blessing to see her again! (  It had been ten years)
I cannot wait till this next tour is over and I get back to my place to welcome Jetty! She will arrive the same week that I get back from tour. Life is good. God is good. And yes, even if life were bad and all would be going very wrong, God would still be very very good! See you next month on the 25th.

Sunday Jan. 30, 2011

Tonight I am in Las Vegas, Nevada on tour. I spoke in the Alliance church here for their two morning  services. Tour is going well but I am tired and will be glad to be home in Metro-Atlanta again. As for my health, I continue to praise God for my good health. Just this month I received the final clearance from my board to go back to Burkina in July. I can't wait to get back to work there. I will write more next month.
